Story Telling
The current administration has become known for telling stories. According to President Biden, he drove an 18-wheeler, was an anti-segregation warrior, and was brought up among several different minority groups. Normally, people enjoy being entertained with stories. His audiences are often amused. Samuel Clemens was a great story teller who used Mark Twain to tell his stories. His stories of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer entertained Americans for generations. But Joe Biden is no Samuel Clemens and he has no Mark Twain to help him tell his stories.
Joe Biden tells a great story about why he is running for a second term. According to Joe, after seeing the atrocities committed by Trump’s followers in Charlottesville (Trump fanatics emerging from corm fields with hate-filled veins bulging in their necks), Joe was going to be a transition, one-term President to bring Americans back together again. Further, according to Joe, after he saw how far apart Americans were, being a patriot, he decided to run for re-election. That’s his story and he will stick with it.
Joe repeatedly states that Trump said there were “great people on both sides in Charlottesville” while claiming that Trump was referring to unruly rioters who were responsible for the death of a person who was in favor of removing Civil War monuments in demonstrations. In fact, Trump was referring to great people on both sides of the argument of whether or not the Civil War monuments honoring Confederate heroes should be removed from public places in Charlottesville.
Joe claims that during COVID, Trump told people to drink or inject bleach to kill the virus. A bald-face lie generated by key Democrats who intended to slander Trump, the then President, knowing that as a “Public Person”, Trump would have a huge burden to overcome in legally proving slander. Since Joe is a trained lawyer, he knows well the concept of “burden of proof.”
Joe claims that on January 6th, Trump rioters planned on building a scaffold to hang Vice President Pence. This was supposed to happen while President Trump was over a mile away from where the rioters were and speaking to his followers at the Washington Monument, telling them to peacefully demonstrate while asking their representatives to legally challenge the outcome of the 2020 election. Joe does not explain how an unarmed crowd would overcome a U. S. Secret Service Vice President Protection Detail armed with side arms and Uzi sup-machine guns whose sole duty was to protect the Vice President. To Biden, he does not need to explain anything to the American public.
Life and politics are filled with contingencies: “If this happens, then that might or will happen.”
On Monday, June 1, 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS), in a 6-3 decision along Conservative/Liberal lines, ruled that any President is, and always will be, unless the Court’s ruling is overridden by future Court action, immune from criminal prosecution for the President's “official” actions, including pardons, taken while in office. Further, the Court ruled that the President’s motives are not to be considered when judging his “official” actions. No matter what his motive for his actions may be, he cannot be prosecuted for any of his “official” actions.
Reading between the lines, I believe that the Court felt that the appropriate action against a sitting President who commits wrongful official actions would be the formal Impeachment by the House of Representatives and Conviction in a Trial conducted by the United States Senate.
Since only a cherished few of our politicians who inhabit public office in Washington would welcome an intensive public examination of how the Swamp operates, House Impeachment and a Senate Trial are not likely events between November 6, 2024 and January 20, 2025, the probable beginning of Donald Trump’s second future Presidency.
During June and July, President Joseph R. Biden has declared that he will be the Democrat candidate to run against Donald J. Trump in the November 5, 2024 Election, declaring that only God could change his plan. He later amended his declaration to allow for a medical situation that would shorten his presidency.
Decision Time is Drawing Close: The Rodents are Leaving the Sinking Ship.
After the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump by a 20 year old, confused, want-to-be assassin, the senior officers, as well of a number of ‘deck hands’ on the Democrat Ship of State, have come to the conclusion that it is not in their best interests to go down with the ship. If they wait too long, the sinking ship may pull them under with it as it sinks. “No”, they think, “the time has come to abandon the aged and sinking, once great politician, Biden.”
Biden has three issues to guide his final action: vanity, confidence, and self-survival.
Joseph Biden is and has been a vain individual. Most of us are vain to some degree, but Joe has taken vanity to the edge of its envelope. He got hair-plugs years ago to be a handsome and look younger Senator. He suffered the painful and annoying hair transplant process for the goal of of a better look that he wanted.
Joseph Biden has confidence in himself. When asked if he is too old to do the job of president, he smiles, laughs and says, “Watch me.” Not an ounce of self-doubt.
Joseph Biden does not want to be abandoned but when repeatedly told the truth of reality, he is beginning to see the situation as others see it. Survival dictates that he needs to make a plan and stick to it. Survival is one of Biden’s basic instincts. He needs to decide what is important and how he can protect it. Pride, legacy, reputation, and wealth all compete for his attention.
November 6, 2024: Another “Infamous Day” in Future History?
No one can definitely foretell the future. If he is true to his word and makes it to November 4th as the President, I see something like the following to occur:
November 6, 2024, will be a Wednesday in the first full week of November. It will also be the first day after the 2024 Presidential Election. If Trump wins the election, it may become another day that will be recorded as INFAMOUS in the annals of history, not because of Trump’s actions, but rather those actions that will be taken by Biden.
If the Democrat team wins the election, nothing much will happen. They will continue to hold the Presidency and may rearrange the seating chart of their Cabinet. They may keep Attorney General Garland or they can make a change. So far, Garland has proved his worth. If they win, they will no longer need to worry about Donald Trump in the immediate future. However, in 2028, some Democrats will need to worry about Donald Trump, a person who will not go noiselessly into the night.
If Donald J. Trump wins the Presidential Election on November 5th, Joseph R. Biden will be in trouble. If Trump appoints a competent and honest Attorney General, Trump can rest easy that his selection will “take care of business” and follow-up on prosecution of those involved in Hunter’s apparent illegal actions that will be still be within their Statute of Limitations. Could Joe, Hunter, their associates, and the family endure the stress and legal expenses that have been incurred by former President Trump since Trump has left office, when they probably face possible criminal prosecution by the Trump administration? I doubt that Joe Biden, his associates, and his family are up to that task. That would be a significant problem for the Biden Family.
If Biden can overlook the damage that will be done to is reputation and legacy, he will have nothing to loose in pardoning his son, himself, and his family members who have been the recipients of millions of dollars collected by Hunter through Hunter’s questionable overseas, foreign business deals. According to SCOTUS, his pardons cannot be challenged. Assets, however, may be subject to future seizure/forfeiture.
The Final Curtain
In his last days as President, Biden must take care of a lot of political business before he leaves for Delaware. Biden will also have to set the stage for what might happen after he exits the presidency by doling out all the political favors he can muster.
Biden must take the offensive once he decides to leave. I believe that Biden will predict to the world that he anticipates a broad, future “witch hunt” by the triumphant future Trump Administration against him and all those who have been associated with the Biden presidency. (There is no limit on the number of pardons he can offer.) Biden will claim that a future Trump “witch hunt” will be disruptive to the country and must be avoided. While Biden has claimed on numerous occasions that he did not intend to pardon his son, I find it difficult to believe a repeat plagiarist. I believe that he will say that as a distinguished proud patriot, he will pardon all of the people that might be investigated to spare the country the time, cost, and embarrassment of the investigation. He will rail against Trump, calling him a felon with the morals of an alley cat (he seems to like that description), and he will assure the American people that if an investigation would have been conducted, it would have been a waste of time and money. By issuing pardons, Biden will claim that he is doing the American public a favor.
While some people might think that mass and arbitrary pardons would be too ridiculous to consider, a review of the history of Presidents dispensing pardons tells us differently:
In 1858, President Buchanan made a blanket pardon to all Mormons to accept Federal authority involving Utah that the Mormons had previously rejected, resulting in the reported deaths of 120 non-Mormon migrants headed to California passing through Utah in the 1857 that is called the Mountain Meadow Massacre. Buchanan had based his blanket pardons on a report from Brigham Young to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs. Young had believed a senior member of the Utah territorial militia who had been party to a wide-spread lie claiming that the victims of the massacre had been killed by native American Indians and not the Mormons. After the conclusion of the Civil War, an investigation indicated that the massacre was conducted by members of the territorial militia assisted by recruited members of the Paiute Indian Tribe. President Buchanan had made the blanket pardons on incorrect information;
In 1865, President Andrew Johnson pardoned 13,000 former Confederate soldiers at the conclusion of the Civil War;
In 1977, President Jimmy Carter issued a blanket pardon for the draft dodgers in the Vietnam War, allowing hundreds or more of draft-age men to return to the United States;
In 2001, President Clinton pardoned Susan Rosenberg, who possessed over 700 pounds of dynamite and Linda Evans, a member of the left-wing Weather Underground who participated in the 1971 Capital Hill Building. Patty Hearst was also pardoned after having been convicted of helping members of the Symbionese Liberation Army to commit armed robberies;
In 2001, President Clinton pardoned his half-brother Roger Clinton who had been convicted in 1985 for cocaine sales;
In 1971, President Nixon pardoned Army Lt. William Calley who had been convicted for his part in committing the Vietnamese My Lai Village Massacre in 1968;
In 1974, President Ford pardoned President Nixon for his part in the 1968 Watergate Scandal; and
In 2001, on his last day in office, President Clinton pardoned billionaire Marc Rich after Denise Rich, Marc Rich’s ex-wife, reportedly donated heavily to Democrat politicians, to include $100,000 to support Hillary Clinton’s New York Senate campaign and $450,000 to support the Presidential Library of Bill Clinton.
SCOTUS has held that the President's right to pardon is without review by the court. The only sanction for a President would be Impeachment by the House and Trial by the Senate – and by then, Biden will no longer be President. November 6th may be the day that the Biden family criminal troubles may finally end. The only action that might prevent the mass issuance of pardons would be the invocation of the 25th Amendment before Biden could sign the pardons and that is doubtful to happen.
Reading the tea leaves around the scenario described above, it seems logical that Biden would immediately resign and Kamala Harris would ascend to the presidency. He must create a “shinny object” for the press to keep their eyes upon while he stumbles off stage and into oblivion. The Presidency of Kamala Harris would give the press much to report upon and it would take the attention away from the departing Biden. Also, Harris would be running in November as the incumbent President, giving her a better historical change to win an election victory.
In the months between November 2024 and January 20, 2025, Harris will play caretaker while trying to manufacture an image that will benefit her persona well before she mounts a future, unsuccessful Presidential campaign for he Presidency in 2028. Given her ability to fail in producing results before January 20th, she will probably look like an inept juggler trying to impress a crowd. While being chosen for qualities other than merit for the Vice President position in 2019 for the 2020 election, I doubt that the Democrats would make the same mistake twice when it comes to their choice for the Presidential Candidate in the 2028 election. But, I may be wrong. Elephants are known to have good memories while donkeys are remembered for their other characteristics.
On the evening that the SCOTUS announced its 6-3 decision along predictable lines, Biden took to the television airwaves to attack the Supreme Court. He appeared desperate and wounded. Some people asked the question, “Will his ‘useful idiots’ flock to his side or will everyone take a deep breathe and wait for the election in November.” Since then, there appears to be signs that professional democrats realize they are in trouble and are grasping for help, but Biden continues to ‘stay the course’ as the election approaches. Professional Democrats, however, can “smell” defeat that is coming their way.
In the late 1700’s, Alexander Hamilton wrote, “It has been frequently remarked, that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not, of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend, for their political constitutions, on accident and force.” So began the document that was published and eventually became known as Federalist Number 1.
Even if events unfold in the manner that I have described, I am proud to have the honor to live in the United States of America, the Greatest Country in the World, providing we can continue to maintain it. The Court’s action of June 1st upholds the wisdom of James Madison who was instrumental in designing the theoretical American government described in our Constitution that rests firmly on three pillars: the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial branches of government. Together, the Three Pillars of American Government have been able to ride out the storms that history has created in its path for over 200 years. The SCOTUS ruling was received peacefully without wide-spread calls for government change. The reaction brings unquestionable positive meaning to the statement uttered by everyday Americans over the years and emblazoned on our currency, “In God We Trust”.
If you’ve gotten this far, thank you for reading my article. Thanks go to Steven Nelsen of US News for his excellent article in 2020 involving pardons that was very helpful when I was doing research for this post.
I must mention that the premise for my post is that Joseph Biden will still be the President on November 5th. If he decides not to run or he chooses to leave the office earlier, I believe the events described in my post will happen earlier, and the press will focus on President Harris earlier. However, I believe the same staged play will be performed. History will either prove me right, wrong, or somewhere in-between. I am interested is seeing how close I come. (As I am finishing this post, President Biden has just declared (on Sunday afternoon, July 21st) that he will withdraw from the 2024 Election.)
One last thing on a historical note -
Friday, October 13, 1307, became an infamous day in history as a sign of bad luck, “Friday the 13th”.
O n October 13th, Philip IV, King of France, ordered the arrest of Jacques de Molay, Grand Master of the Knights Templar, along with a number of other Templar knights. The Knights Templar had established a financial empire in Europe with lucrative banking features in Europe and the Middle East as a bi-product of the Crusades. The Templars had the misfortune of loaning large amounts of gold to the French King. The King did not or could not repay the Templars. Philip took advantage of the riff between Pope Clement V and the Templars when he ordered the arrests of Jacques de Molay and many of the ranking Templars. Philip further ordered the seizure of their properties and had many of the Templars put to death for heresy. That’s the way he handled his enemies.

Let’s hope that November 6th will be remembered in a better and brighter light.
